A study has revealed that increasing the intake of protein in the food can help preserve the ability of daily activities in the elderly and also reduce the risk of inefficiency.
It is reported in the study that eating more proteins can reduce the risk of inefficiency among elderly people, which prevents them from taking daily activities and domestic activities such as eating themselves, bathing, wearing clothes and participating in social activities.
For the study, 722 participants from the North-East were studied, of which 60 percent were women. This study was published in the Journal of American Geriatric Society.
The results of the study have shown that those who take more protein are less inefficient than those who take less protein. The researchers have suggested that elderly individuals should consume 1 to 1.2 grams of protein for every 2.2 pounds of body weight.
